Services Available:
Usage of the Collections
Visitors to the library may use the print materials of the circulating collection within the library spaces.
In the event that a visitor would like to consult material located in our offsite storage facility, they should contact the Lending Services team (inlend@lehigh.edu) at least two business days in advance of their visit.
If a visitor would like to use Special Collections materials, they should contact Lehigh Libraries Special Collections via the online registration form to coordinate a visit.
Visitors may join the Friends of Lehigh University Libraries at the minimum contributing level of $75.00 per year. This membership includes a borrower’s card for one year and allows borrowing privileges for all circulating library books. (Membership does not include InterLibrary Loan services, off-campus access, or access to online Library resources.)
Students, faculty and staff of LVAIC institutions may borrow materials from Lehigh University Libraries with valid ID.
Government Documents
Lehigh University Libraries is the longest serving Federal Depository Library in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The public may access online government materials from the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) from the Government Documents kiosk located in the E.W. Fairchild-Martindale Library, on 5th floor south. The majority of our print government documents collection is located in our offsite storage facility. Visitors with questions about Government Documents would contact Mark Scott, Lehigh’s Coordinator of the FDLP, at mas815@lehigh.edu.
Research Consultations
Lehigh University Librarians are available to meet with visitors to assist with research needs if arranged in advance. If a visitor would like to meet with our Special Collections Team for a research consultation, they should submit a request via their online registration form. If a visitor would like to meet with a member of the Instruction and Outreach Librarians team, they should submit a request for assistance via this form.
Catalog, Scanning, and Printing
Visitors may use the library kiosks available in each library near the public service desks. The kiosks provide access to ASA, Lehigh's Library Catalog, and other library resources such as research databases and journals. The kiosks also allow the visitor to view full text electronic resources found in ASA or found on the library web page. Both libraries provide self-service scan and fax (domestic) services. To capture print materials electronically, visitors can use self-service scanners to email or save scanned images. The Libraries do not offer public access to printers or photocopiers.
Wireless
Lehigh offers a wireless network called “guest-wireless” for visitors with laptops and mobile devices. This network does not provide access to secure campus network resources such as the library licensed journals and databases. Eduroam is available on Lehigh University’s campus, for visitors that have access to Eduroam from their affiliated institution. Visitors who wish to use a computer in the library spaces or access the Library electronic resources on their personal device should contact the Help Desk (helpdesk@lehigh.edu) at least 24 hours in advance of their visit so that a visitor account can be created.
Accessibility
Both library spaces offer elevator access to accommodate accessibility needs. The accessible entrance to Linderman Library is located to the right of the main entrance. The accessible entrance to E. W. Fairchild-Martindale Library is from Packer Avenue through the main entrance or the breezeway. If you need assistance entering either library facility, please contact the Help Desk, helpdesk@lehigh.edu, 610-758-HELP (4357). If you would like assistance accessing the physical collections in either library space, please alert the front desk.
Those who have mobility issues that make it challenging to get to either library location are encouraged to contact Lehigh Transportation & Parking Services to make arrangements.
