Borrowing
Borrowing privileges at the Lehigh Libraries are extended to current Lehigh faculty, staff and students; students and faculty at LVAIC institutions; faculty from participating OCLC and PALCI academic research libraries; Friends of the Lehigh University Libraries at a contributing membership level of $75.00 annually.
Log into My Account to view your checked out library materials, renew your charges, recall an item, and other services.
Paging and Recalls
A Paging service for books that are available on the library shelf may be initiated from the online catalog by Lehigh researchers. To place a Page request, select "Request This" from the item record page in the online catalog. Page requests will be fulfilled within one business day and held for pickup at the Circulation Desk of the book's home library location for 10 days. Office Delivery service via Campus Mail to a campus address is available for Faculty/Staff and Graduate Students.
A book that is checked out for more than 30 days may be recalled by selecting "Recall This" from the item record. We strongly recommend using the Interlibrary Loan Service before recalling checked out items as fulfillment times are usually faster.
Loan Periods
Loan periods vary according to borrower status and material type. Reserve items, media and laptops are loaned for periods ranging from four hours to seven days. Leisure items circulate for 50 days with one renewal. Reference materials and unbound journals must be used in the library.
Loan periods for books are listed below. Books are subject to recall after 30 days if a member of the Lehigh community makes a request.
- Faculty, Staff: One year
- Grad Students: One semester
- Undergrads, Affiliates (Friends, LVAIC, etc.): 50 Days
Item Replacement Fees
A replacement fee of $150 will be charged for any lost or damaged items. Library notices will be sent to your Lehigh email address. Borrowing privileges may be suspended if fees remain unpaid or if recalled books, interlibrary loan materials, or library technology items are long overdue.
If a lost item is returned within four months of the replacement charge, the fee is usually waived. As an alternative to the replacement fee, patrons may purchase a new replacement copy of the exact same item (same ISBN and edition) from the vendor of their choice.
