Library and Technology Services has deployed a modern fully redundant core networking infrastructure consisting of 3 core routers with 100 Gig network backbone. All academic and research buildings are connected at 10 Gbps. Asa Packer, Mountaintop, and Goodman campuses are all connected together with Lehigh-owned Single Mode Fiber. This infrastructure includes network outlets, cabling, the campus core network, data center networks, and dedicated access to various external networks such as the Internet and Internet2.

While all renovations and new construction are designed to utilize the latest standards for network cabling to support high network speeds and capacity, there are locations throughout campus that are running at speeds less than 1 Gig. We continually look for opportunities to work with the university and departments to upgrade wiring to support the needs of the Lehigh community.

To meet the increasing wireless demands for tablets, phones, laptops, collaborative workspaces, and Internet of Things we are continually assessing our wireless capacity and coverage throughout all three campuses. We currently have 4,000+ Wireless Access Points deployed. We have three wireless networks, secure authenticated wireless "lehigh", open guess wireless "lehigh-guest", and soon "eduroam" for those from visiting institutions that participate in the Eduroam wireless network.

For performance, redundancy, and resiliency, Lehigh utilizes 3 regional diverse Internet Service Providers (ISPs). All our providers provide full 10 Gbps speeds. Lehigh is a charter member of both Internet2 and FirstLight (KINBER-PennREN), demonstrating institutional commitment to high-quality access to regional and national networks for research and education.

From an IP address space, we have our own IPv4 /16 and IPv6 /32 block allocations.
