LTS supports various options for faculty, staff, students, departments, and colleges to build and maintain University websites, guided by the Web Services Policy.

WordPress

Assisted website development

WordPress is an open-source website/blog creation tool that allows users to develop their own websites without code using a rich set of hosted tools. It is one of the most well-known and easy-to-use blogging platforms and content management systems (CMS) available. LTS recommends this service for the development of academic-focused projects by Lehigh staff, faculty and students.

We've partnered with CampusPress to provide the hosting for the environment, and second-tier support for the platform is provided by the Instructional Technology team.

Drupal

Custom content management solutions

Sites for official Lehigh entities, such as administrative areas, university missions, academic departments or colleges at Lehigh are built with the Drupal content management system to allow users to easily edit content without writing code by filling out easy-to-use entry forms while utilizing Lehigh’s official branding to make compelling websites. Integration with the University Events Calendar and emergency alerts system, SEO optimizations, and Google Analytics data collection are some of the added benefits of having a website in Lehigh’s Drupal environment.

Static Web Hosting

The "classic" website option

All Lehigh computing accounts include space on Lehigh’s basic HTML web server, but to use it, users must write their own HTML, CSS and Javascript code, and upload or save their files to that storage space. Functionality and tools there are more limited than on other web services, but fully custom-coded by the user.
