Lehigh faculty and staff:
LTS will soon be implementing software and service changes for current and future retirees. In response to changes in software licensing and security requirements, Library and Technology Services performed a thorough review of services provisioned to retirees. As a result, services available to retired faculty and staff will be changing as outlined below, effective July 1, 2024.
Services retirees will retain:
- Lehigh Email
- Access to selected Library collections, journals, and publications
- Limited LTS Help Desk support for Lehigh-sponsored services (we cannot assist with home wireless, printing/printers, or device/software issues). We suggest local independent computer-support businesses as an alternative.
- Microsoft Office 365 (online version only). If you have Microsoft Office 365 installed locally on your computer’s hard drive, you will need to remove it before the License expires on August 1, 2024. You will retain access to the online version of the Microsoft Office 365 products which can be accessed by going to https://www.office.com.
- Google Docs, Calendar, Photos, and Drive (15 GB Google quota for Drive and Email combined). However, you will automatically be removed from shared drives and Google groups.
- The Lehigh VPN
- Zoom Basic account (which does not include cloud recording capabilities and limits meetings to 40 minutes)
- Duo two-factor authentication (required)
Services discontinued on July 1, 2024:
- Dropbox
- Software downloads (software.lehigh.edu)
- WordPress (Please see link to FAQ below for exporting WordPress content)
- Zoom Enterprise (as noted above, retirees will retain a Zoom Basic account, which does not include cloud recording capabilities and limits meetings to 40 minutes)
- Access to Network Drives such: H: (personal), I: (departmental), and R: (research)
- Panopto
- Course Site
- Adobe, Minitab, NVivo, LUapps, or other software accounts
Maintaining a role at Lehigh?
If you are a retiree who maintains a role at Lehigh, such as working on grants, teaching part-time, or working on special projects, there are options for you to maintain your current account access (listed below).
Sponsored accounts
If a department would like a faculty member to retain access for specific academic or research needs, a sponsored account may be requested for an annual cost of $150. An academic department representative with index-signing authority must request a sponsored account at https://accounts.lehigh.edu/accounts/. Sponsored accounts have the same access as faculty/staff accounts.
Returning as a part-time or temporary employee
If a retired faculty or staff member returns as a part-time employee or with an adjunct teaching appointment, access will be converted to that of faculty/staff for the duration of your employment.
What do I need to do (prior to 7/1/2024)?
Current retirees may contact the LTS Help Desk with questions about the above changes by submitting a help ticket or by emailing the Help Desk at helpdesk@lehigh.edu.
If you anticipate retiring in the near future, you may contact your department computing consultant, LTS College Team manager, or the LTS Help Desk (submit a help ticket or email helpdesk@lehigh.edu) for questions regarding your transition to retirement.
