This project is a collaboration with Professor Mary Folz, the Digital Scholarship team and the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center in Allentown, PA, which since its opening in 2016, has collected materials from community members, LGBT owned businesses, and regional media to build an archive dedicated to the Lehigh Valley LGBT community. This archive is becoming more accessible to LGBT people and allies in the Lehigh Valley. In 2019 the team imagined and designed accessible digital platforms for archival material and effective public exhibitions of archival material. They continue to expand, curate, and discover archival materials that document the history of LGBTQ+ people in the Lehigh Valley. This team will continue to create a public exhibit of the archive, working with local partners and organizations to mine the trove of hidden histories and bring them to light.
In Summer 2020, the Digital Scholarship Team began supporting this project team and their faculty mentor, Professor Mary Foltz, with the WordPress component of this project, a web-based public exhibition of the archive. This work continued into the Spring 2021 semester.
The Digital Research and Scholarship team continued support of Lehigh Valley LGBT+ Community Archive project during AY 2022-23, mainly through consultation on WordPress components of the project.
