Edited timeline May 9, 2024
Dear faculty and staff:
To streamline the Lehigh computer purchase process, save time, and access deeper discounts, Library and Technology Services will be moving all computer purchases for Apple, Lenovo, and Dell through CDW-G. Once fully implemented, the process will primarily be self-service through CDW-G’s Unimarket catalog.
Timeline for moving to the CDW-G Unimarket catalog:
- April 1, 2024: All Apple computer orders will be directed through CDW-G. Purchasing will stop accepting orders through Apple Ecommerce and Education May 1, 2024
- June 1, 2024: All Lenovo computer orders will be directed through CDW-G. Purchasing will stop accepting orders through Lenovo Direct July 1, 2024
- August 1, 2024: All Dell orders will be directed through CDW-G. Purchasing will stop accepting orders through Dell Premier August 1, 2024
This staggered timeline will allow us to ensure the hardware pricing for each vendor is correct, and the proper bundles and configurations are available.
New purchase process
Step 1: Enroll in Unimarket
The new process will be self-service through CDW-G’s Unimarket catalog. There are two levels of access for Unimarket - Browser and Buyer. Both levels require enrollment.
- A Browser (what most faculty/staff need) will be able to select a system and add it to a cart, share the cart with others etc. A cart can be transferred to a Buyer when the purchase is ready.
- A Buyer will be able to perform the same function as the Browser but will also be able to create a requisition and start the Purchase Order process. This level must have authorization to charge department indexes.
Step 2: Start the order process
After your Unimarket account is approved, visit the LTS Computer Purchasing webpage to begin the order process. Note that users will be directed to Unimarket based on the timeline described above. That is, on April 1st, the Apple link will direct you to Unimarket; on June 1st, the Lenovo link will direct you to Unimarket; on August 1st, the Dell link will direct you to Unimarket.
By partnering with CDW-G and integrating purchasing with Unimarket, members of the Lehigh community can more easily explore and order pre-configured computer bundles with maximized savings and improved efficiency. This new process is aligned with An Organization of the Future, one of the foundational initiatives of Lehigh's Strategic Plan, Inspiring the Future Makers.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the LTS Help Desk or your LTS Computing Consultant.
Sincerely,
Library and Technology Services
