Are you running an older version of Adobe's commercial products?
Software vendors regularly identify and repair software security vulnerabilities by releasing patches and updates. Over time, vendors cease supporting certain software packages and stop releasing patches and updates. Computers with unpatched software are vulnerable to security compromise.
Library and Technology Services is preparing to remove vulnerable versions of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Suite from university-owned computers, beginning March 1, 2021.
What versions are affected?
Versions of concern include Adobe Acrobat 11 and earlier as well as Adobe Creative Suite CS6 and earlier. These versions were sold in the early 2010s and are now unsupported by Adobe. Significant security concerns surround these legacy products. Users of current Adobe Acrobat Reader versions (the vast majority of campus) will NOT be impacted by this.
What do I need to do?
On university-owned computers, the automatic removal process should be silent and unnoticed; no action is required on your part. Automated removals will begin in March.
