On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Friends of the Lehigh University Libraries hosted its 14th annual Harvest of Ideas reception in the Linderman Library Rotunda for faculty who published or edited a book or composition during the previous year. Greg Reihman, Vice Provost for Library and Technology Services; Boaz Nadav-Manes, University Librarian; faculty and Friends Board Members Kevin Lahoda and Shellen Wu; and Assistant University Librarian, Jasmine Woodson, presided over the celebration.
After Reihman welcomed attendees and congratulated faculty authors, recognizing their dedication to advancing knowledge and enriching the Lehigh community, speakers reflected on the libraries as both scholarly and social spaces—places where ideas develop, are shared, and nurtured. Nadav-Manes spoke of the year’s “gratitude and momentum,” describing how the libraries have deepened their mission to connect knowledge, people, and possibilities. He highlighted new efforts to expand open scholarship, modernize systems, support emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence, and create more inclusive, collaborative learning environments. He also emphasized the Libraries’ commitment to access, connection, and belonging.
The Friends of the Libraries, represented by Wu, Professor of History, and Lahoda, Professor of Art, Architecture, and Design, were recognized as partners in sustaining this energy, supporting programs that keep the libraries vibrant, reflecting on the enduring impact of the Friends of the Libraries, and highlighting recent programs and exhibits supported by the Friends, from faculty talks to art exhibitions to community-based partnerships.
In closing, Woodson read the list of 17 honorees and their works, ending on a note of uplift for the creativity and scholarship that continue to define Lehigh’s rich intellectual community.
The Faculty Authors collection represents a range of scholarly output, and this year's additions span scholarly monographs, edited volumes, and creative works. A copy of each book authored by Lehigh faculty is added to Special Collections and noted in the library catalog. Faculty-authored books are also on display in the Linderman Library reading room.
