Title: Director of the Gender, Leadership, and Empowerment Center
College/Department: Office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging
Course: WGSS 001: Gender and Society
Student Enrollment: 25
Proposal: Enhance the summative course project where students address sex, gender, or sexuality-related issues at Lehigh, currently presented through various creative "visceralizations." The primary challenge is ensuring these projects inspire clear, actionable steps for positive change. The proposed improvement involves introducing students to diverse, interactive platforms like vod/podcasting or StoryMaps for sharing their findings, moving beyond passive learning to active engagement. This will provide students with transferable tech skills, teach them how to encourage peer action, and enable real-time assessment of their impact. Collaboration is sought for assignment redesign, scaffolding, tool selection, and student training, fostering an inquiry-based approach to media selection for maximizing impact.
