Title: Assistant Professor
College/Department: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Community and Population Health
Course: CEE/EES 379
Student Enrollment: 20
Proposal: The current CEE 379 Environmental Case Studies course, an upper-level elective, is limited by its primary case study on a local superfund site that is no longer sufficiently complex for a semester-long project. The proposed change seeks to revitalize the project by implementing a new, multi-year community-engaged project where students will create a public-facing digital archive of the Bethlehem Landfill. This redesign will provide students with practical experience in archival research and data compilation by engaging them directly with diverse community stakeholders. The goal is to create a lasting and transparent community resource while fostering a dynamic, project-based learning environment. Collaboration with CITL & the digital archive librarians to develop the technical infrastructure for the archive, ensuring it can sustainably store data while providing access for both students and community partners.
