Title: Language Specialist
College/Department: International Center for Academic and Professional English (ICAPE)
Course: WRT-003 Composition & Literature I
Student Enrollment: 18
Proposal: This course is a first-year composition course for multilingual English speakers, focusing on improving advanced academic English and writing skills through reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities, with a central theme of "Language & Identity." A goal of the course is to prepare students for academic research and writing by fostering critical thinking and analytical skills through project-based learning. Key assignments include a "Meaningful Object Memoir," where students will use a 3D scanner to explore personal identity through a cherished object, and a multi-part "Brand Proposal Project." In the brand project, students will first analyze a brand's historical and cultural impact, then creatively re-launch or propose a new product, potentially using AI video generation and/or augmented reality (AR) creation tools to demonstrate their understanding of branding and its influence.
