Course: ANTH 011: Cultural Diversity and Human Nature
Student Enrollment: 100
Proposal: The current ANTH 011 Cultural Anthropology course, a large lecture-based survey, is outdated and struggles with student engagement and AI misuse in writing assignments. The proposed change aims to revitalize the course by thoroughly integrating diverse writing assignments, including non-graded, peer-evaluated, and portfolio-based formats. This reimagining will promote deeper learning and move beyond traditional, vulnerable assignments. The goal is to make anthropological knowledge more relevant to students' lives and foster a more active learning environment. Working with instructional support staff will be crucial for redesigning learning outcomes, implementing active learning strategies, and exploring technological innovations to enhance the course.
