Join us for the CITL Winter Workshop

The LTS Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning will be holding its yearly Winter Workshop on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Start your spring semester with this opportunity to spark innovation in your teaching and learn new ways to inspire curiosity in your students!

10am-11am - New Features, New Workflow: A Hands-On Guide to the Course Site Upgrade

Prepare for the Winter 2025 Course Site upgrade to Moodle 5.1! This workshop will guide you through the exciting new features and enhancements coming to Course Site. You also will have dedicated time in a practice environment to test out all the new features yourself. 

We'll cover key changes, including: 

  • Seamless Panopto quiz grade integration with your Course Site gradebook.
  • New purpose-based categories for adding activities and resources.
  • The ability to create subsections for better content organization.
  • A powerful new TinyMCE rich text editor.
  • A new Zoom integration for scheduling and sharing meetings directly within Course Site.

11am-Noon - Leveraging Media Creation Tools for Engagement

Not sure if students have engaged with your pre-recorded lectures? Want students to come to class prepared so you can focus on more advanced topics? Would you like students to create their own content but don’t know where to start? Join us to learn more about some of the options for leveraging media in your classes. In this session, we will cover three scenarios on how to use media and share some tips and tricks on LTS supported tools. Learn more about how you and your students can create professional looking videos or podcasts in our ready to use “do it yourself” studios.

1pm-2pm - How can we preserve writing skills in a time of AI? (panel discussion)

The widespread availability and use of AI for text generation has a tremendous impact on the writing process of college students. A few years ago, autocomplete guided our questions to search engines. These days, a user and a chatbot can unfurl a composition in seconds. This session gathers faculty and staff who are invested in writing and asks: How can we preserve writing skills in a time of AI?
