Revist and refine your course as a whole
Now that you have all of the fundamental course elements in place, take a step back and take a look at your course as a whole. Do the various pieces fit together well? Are activities, assessments and in alignment with your course learning objectives ?
Continue identifying course materials, preparing and recording lecture videos, planning asynchronous online opportunities for active learning; planning synchronous interactive learning opportunities, designing assignments, and refining assessments.
We encourage you to supplement your individual work at this time with peer-to-peer partnerships to discuss course materials, get feedback on lecture recordings, assignments, strategies for engaging students, etc.
Departments or individual instructors may request additional workshops by CITL staff and/or by faculty peers at this time and will be offered on an as-needed basis.
As a reminder, if you'd like a review of the key elements, consult these documents:
- Recommended Pedagogy for Online Teaching
- Lecture-style Online Classes - Sample Weekly Workflow for Instructors and Students.
- Discussion-based Online Classes - Sample Weekly Workflow for Instructors and Students.
Note: This is "Phase 3" of the University's "Preparing for Fall 2020" faculty support and course development plan.
