Access Departmental Network Storage (I-Drive) on macOS

These instructions explain how to access shared departmental LAN space (often referred to at Lehigh as the I-drive, because of how it typically appears on Windows computers).

Prerequisite: First, make sure you are connected to the Lehigh campus network, either with a cable, via WiFi, or over the internet via the VPN (if you are off campus, see Connect to the VPN (Mac)).

Switch to the Finder. From the Go menu, select Connect to Server... (or use the keyboard shortcut Command-K).

In the Server Address box, type the following:

smb://common.cc.lehigh.edu/Common/

as shown in this example.

Action: 

Click the plus (+) icon to the right of the Server Address box to add the address to your list of Favorite Servers.  For your next connection, this may be simply double-clicked.

Click Connect.

You will be prompted to enter your Lehigh login credentials (username and password). Also, be sure to specify 'Registered User'. If you have difficulty, precede the username with "ad/".

(Optional) If you wish, you may now proceed to 'Create a Desktop Alias to a Network Space in macOS' and also to  'Auto-mount network drives (Mac).'
