The following are base-level hardware specifications required for support by the Library & Technology Services team supporting the College of Arts & Sciences. The purpose of establishing these minimums is to optimize the level of support we can provide to members of the college. Given the increased requirements of modern software application suites available to clients via LTS, we believe that it has become impractical and unproductive for clients to attempt the installation and use of such software on equipment that does not meet the stated minimum hardware requirements. LTS has standardized on Windows 10 x64-bit. If your needs include running the same software that is available in the public computing labs, your PC should have similar specifications as those PCs. Additional information is available on the Lehigh Windows 10 FAQ web page.
The minimums are reviewed on an annual basis by the LTS support team for the College of Arts and Sciences: Bill Bettermann, Grant Hittinger, Dario Varga, Dan Brashler, Judd Hark, Brian Simboli, and Heather Simoneau.
If your computer or laptop does not meet the above basic criteria you have missed several opportunities to replace your computer and should see your department chair immediately to have the situation remedied. Departments have the budget to replace all faculty and staff computers on a three year rotation (four year for Macs).
