Calling Cards
When using calling cards (other than the prepaid type), please be aware of any charges that calling card vendors might bill directly to you. The cost of any billable incoming call received by a particular extension will be divided among the room occupants. Some calling cards may require you to dial a toll free number; You will NOT be charged, by Telecommunications Services, for standard toll free calls.
Billing for collect and other billable calls may not occur immediately, since billing information must first be forwarded from our local service provider to Lehigh
Collect Calls
Telecommunications and our local carrier make every possible attempt to block collect and third party calls coming into our system. However, despite our best efforts, some calls do slip through.
The cost of ANY collect call (including 900-type services) received by a particular extension will be divided among the room occupants or among the hall/building residents, if the collect call is received on a common area phone.
Telecommunications can easily verify that an incoming call has terminated at a particular extension; therefore, we are able to match dates and times to 900 type calls. Billing for collect calls may not occur immediately since the billing information must first be forwarded from our local carrier to Lehigh University.
CALLS TO TOLL FREE NUMBERS
The Campus Operators will NOT process toll free calls for the campus community.
When you call one of the many information and entertainment services available, you are invited to continue the call at a set rate, usually in excess of $5.00 per minute. Once you accept, you will be billed for the call. Lehigh can verify that a call originated from your extension and you will be billed back for any calls placed to access entertainment or information services which are billed to the university.
