Research Data: Recommended Tools

One of the hallmarks of Lehigh University is its strong emphasis on the value of front-line research in the learning process.  Along with that comes the work of maintaining and sharing large amounts of research information between the faculty and their students.  LTS provides a number of tools to assist research groups with data storage and collaboration.  Below is a list of some of the most powerful ones for assisting all researchers.

Re-Set File Access Permission in the Citrix Receiver (macOS)

The LUapps system uses the Citrix Receiver client to deliver software to Lehigh users, and the program's access to files on the client computer can be changed depending on the user's preference. The following steps allow users to set this on the macOS version of the client.

Frequently Asked Questions about Using LUapps (Citrix)

The LUapps software virtualization system can be a bit complex to understand and use effectively.  Below are a few answers to questions you may encounter when using the system.

Upload a Citrix File to Course Site

These instructions walk users through the process of transferring a file created in LUapps to Course Site.  There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but to specifically assist off-campus students, we'll use the following method:  1) save the file to your computer's desktop, and then 2) upload it to Course Site from there using a browser on your computer.

Open and Save Files in the Citrix Environment (LUapps)

When you connect to LUapps using the Citrix Receiver client, you connect to a particular application running on a virtual machine on a server in the Computing Center.  That kind of an arrangement brings up important questions like:  'How can I open the files I want to work on?' and 'Where do they get saved when I'm done?'.  The answer depends partly on the kind of device you're connecting with.

Lehigh RoomFinder

The LTS Digital Scholarship department, in cooperation with the Lehigh Facilities department has created a web interface to the floor plans for most buildings on campus.  Lehigh users can log into this system, and and find the locations for any numbered space, and share that map link with co-workers to make finding one's way around easier and faster.

Network Speed Troubleshooting

Network feeling slow? Does video playback stutter or buffer frequently? Downloads taking forever? Try these tips and suggestions for improving your network speed.

ASA Library Catalog

The Lehigh Libraries are most quickly and conveniently searched using the 'ASA Library Catalog'.  Full information is available on the relevant Library Site Page.

Install the Citrix Workspace on iOS

Follow these steps to install the Citrix Workspace (LUapps) onto an Apple iOS device.  Note that interface differs on iPads and iPhone.   Steps here show the iPad interface.
