To connect to the Lehigh network from off-campus, a computer must be running the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client Software. The instructions below describe the process for a Debian-based distribution (Like Ubuntu, CentOS, or Debian) running the Gnome desktop manager.
Open a terminal window, and change to your Downloads directory (or wherever your browser downloads files), and unpack the file:
$ cd Downloads
$ tar -xvf anyconnect-predeploy-linux-64-4.1.02011-k9.gz
Once the files are unpacked, change to the vpn directory inside the main folder:
$ cd anyconnect-4.1.02011/vpn
$ sudo ./vpn_install.sh
Accept the license agreement and any default settings by hitting 'enter' until your prompt returns.
Enter vpn.lehigh.edu into the 'Connect To:' box, and click 'Connect'.
The window will change to allow you to set additional connection options, including your 'Group'. Users needing library database access or connecting from outside the United States should select 'Library Access'. All others should choose 'General Access' for better performance.
Also, enter your Lehigh username and password here, and then click 'Connect' again.
